Requirements for Tinbergen Institute Candidate and Research Fellows

Requirements for  Candidate Fellows and Research Fellows

Tinbergen Institute has a mission to stimulate research. As part of this mission, researchers from the three associated schools may join as fellow if they meet the quality standards. Tinbergen Institute discerns two types of fellowship:

  • Candidate Fellowship
  • Research Fellowship

All fellows should hold a PhD and at least a 0.2fte appointment with research tasks at one of schools associated to Tinbergen Institute, and their research should fit into one of the research fields. Candidate fellowships are awarded for at most 6 years to researchers holding a junior position. Research fellowships are awarded to active researchers based on recent research output.

The TI Fellowship Charter 2025-2028 presents all details about the requirements and the application and evaluation procedure. It also states the benefits for fellows and what expectations Tinbergen Institute does have of its fellows. You are welcome to submit your request for admission as a candidate fellow or research fellow at any time by sending an email to research@tinbergen.nl

The Tinbergen Institute journal list consists of all peer reviewed journals that are part of the subject categories “Economics” and “Business, Finance” as published here.
