About the Lecture: Information is often beneficial to people, but sometimes it isn’t, and sometimes it is actually harmful. This lecture will discuss the complex effects of information on people’s welfare, with reference to new evidence on that question. The paper on which this lecture is based can be found here.
About the Speaker: Cass R. Sunstein is the Robert Walmsley University Professor at Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Law School. From 2009 to 2012 he was the Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs in the Obama administration. He is the author of prominent publications on behavioural law and economics, including Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth, and Happiness (with Richard Thaler, 2008).
About the ACLE: The Amsterdam Center for Law and Economics (ACLE) is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Law at the University of Amsterdam.
