Placements Nadine Ketel and Paul Muller: University of Gothenburg

PhD candidates Nadine Ketel and Paul Muller have accepted positions as postdoctoral researchers at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Nadine is a PhD student in economics at VU University Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam. She expects to complete her dissertation on ‘Essays on Applied Microeconomics’ in June 2015, under the supervision of TI fellows professors Hessel Oosterbeek (UvA) and Bas van der Klaauw (VU). In 2012, she was awarded a research talent grant (€ 150.000 for a three-year PhD position) by NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) for the research project ‘The returns to medical school in a regulated labor market: Evidence from admission lotteries’. She is an alumna of the TI MPhil program (2011, cum laude). Her research interest include applied microeconomics, labor economics, education economics, and policy evaluation.

 

Paul is a PhD student in economics at VU University Amsterdam. He expects to submit his dissertation on ‘Evaluating Labor Market Policies’ in April 2015, under the supervision of TI fellows professors Pieter Gautier (VU) and Bas van der Klaauw (VU). His paper (revision) on ‘Stimating equilibrium effects of job search assistance’, with P. Gautier, B. van der Klaauw, M. Rosholm and M. Svarer has been submitted to Econometrica. Paul is an alumnus of the TI MPhil program (2011). His research interests lie in the areas of applied microeconomics, labor, job search, and policy evaluation.
