Placement Tomasz Makarewicz: University of Amsterdam
PhD student Tomasz Makarewicz has accepted a position as postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Nonlinear Dynamics in Economics and Finance (CeNDEF) of the University of Amsterdam.
Tomasz will work on laboratory experiments to test behavioral macro-financial models under the MACFINROBODS project: an EU FP7 grant collaborative project. In this ‘Integrated Macro-Finance Modelling for Robust Policy Design’ (MACFINROBODS) project, 10 European universities will collaborate with the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. MACFINROBODS emphasizes research into macroeconomic models relevant to policymaking. The project studies uncertain decision making by banks, consumers, businesses and public institutions and the global systemic risk of the macro-financial system.
Tomasz is an alumnus of the TI MPhil program (2011) and a PhD candidate in economics at the CeNDEF, University of Amsterdam. Tomasz’ main research interests include cover bounded rationality, experimental and behavioral economics. He studies learning and heterogeneous price expectations, with the emphasis on agent-based models, their dynamic properties and applications to experimental data. Tomasz will defend his PhD thesis in the second half of 2014. His supervisor is fellow professor Cars Hommes.
