Fellow Maarten Bosker appointed Endowed Professor

As of 1 January 2017, fellow Maarten Bosker has been appointed Endowed Professor in International Trade and Development at Erasmus School of Economics through the Erasmus Trustfonds.

In his research, Maarten Bosker focuses on the traditional questions concerning the role that international trade plays in influencing current welfare disparities between and within countries and their development. In doing so, Bosker is building on recent scientific work in which he demonstrates that the analysis of the welfare effects of international trade can be greatly improved by using mathematical insights that were previously applied in the analysis of network externalities in social networks. Bosker: ‘These methods are, whether or not in an adapted form, perfect for use in the analysis of the welfare effects of further economic integration in current, often cross-border, production chains. The predictions are easy to test empirically, based on readily available data.’
